Just over twenty days in, the fourth single from Birmingham’s
Lovats has already stacked up an impressive 39k+ plays. Entitled ‘Fiction’, the
band have taken a turn from their distinctive style, resulting in an stimulating
and individual single. Drummer James Jackson provides the vocals adding a
mellow tone to the track as his vocals, in comparison to the usual vocalist
Ciaran Scanlon’s powerful and poignant vocals, are much softer. These mellower
vocals are clearly complimented with the shifting volume of the raucous guitar
and drums. Anthemic ‘la da da’s’ make for a catchy component, ensured to get the
crowd chanting and jumping along.
Breaking away from the increasingly typical Birmingham band’s
sound, Lovats are obviously not limited to styles and play to their strengths
with an effortlessness that is sure to propel them to greater things. Stream the single below.
