Single: Neo-Seoul // Luminance

Luminance are another of Birmingham’s bands on the new music scene. The 4-piece ended last year on a high, with a flurry of local radio sessions, numerous gigs and even having the chance to play with reputable artists, one of them being Cold Crows Dead.

The band have released their first single entitled ‘Neo-Seoul’ with an accompanying video writhing with psychedelic visuals. Their stated influences of The Knife, Foals, Radiohead, Warpaint and Lowercase Noises are manifest throughout the seven minute long track.

The stimulating, shoegaze infused track opens with distorted riffs and distinctive echoed vocals. An unbroken rhythm reveals itself as the song is drawn into its own with iridescent, introspective elements breaking through. Smooth vocal transitions between the distortion and the more subdued melody are potent and accompanied with a driving beat. With every listen the track demands more and more attention; it is clear this is a quality single.
